Unisil SL 11K is an aqueous solution of potassium methylsiliconate.
SL 11K can be used in two ways: as an impregnating agent for surface treatment, and as a component of cement- and gypsum-based plastering mortars using a volumetric process.
For surface treatment, SL 11K is applied to the surface to be treated with a brush, paint roller or spraying method. Brick walls, wall panels, cement mortar top layer, subgrade concrete, limestone, porous stone and artificial stone, corrugated slate, roof tiles and plastering mortars are the subject of treatment. The application of the material must be continued until the surface to be worked is saturated, until the first drops appear. Excess liquid must be removed.
It is worth noting that SL 11K has a strongly alkaline chemical effect, therefore it is necessary to observe some precautions - contact of the liquid with the skin and open flame must be prevented.
Surface hydrophobization is effective for 4-5 years.
For volumetric application, SL 11K is dosed in the appropriate proportion during the preparation of plastering, cement mortars and fresh concrete. The required amount is calculated individually, taking into account the degree of water repellency and the service life to be achieved.
SL 11K hydrophobizing agent does not emit vapors and gases harmful to health during its storage and application, it is non-toxic, non-explosive, but has an alkaline chemical effect, therefore, when working with it, the occupational health and safety regulations for alkalis must be observed.
